Oran F. Whiting

The Illinois Supreme Court appointed Judge Oran F. Whiting to the Cook County Circuit Court in July, 2017. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Whiting successfully practiced law for 30 years, as a partner at the nation’s largest law firms, representing diverse clients in litigation and regulatory matters. His legal acumen has been recognized by Leading Lawyers Magazine, Illinois Super Lawyer, and Crain’s Chicago Business.

Judge Whiting has significant judicial experience as a former Illinois Court of Claims Commissioner (trial judge) and Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White Hearing Officer. As a current member of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois’ Oversight Committee, Judge Whiting is responsible for ensuring a high ethical standard for Illinois' attorneys.

Judge Whiting attended Francis W. Parker School, and received his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania (earning a B.S. in economics and a B.A. in international relations while lettering in a varsity sport). He received his legal education at the Georgetown University Law Center.
