About Blanca
I have been involved in politics since 1973, when I started working for Governor Walker as a Spanish Speaking Liaison. In 1980 I was elected to the National Democratic Convention for president Jimmy Carter and presidential candidate John Kerry in 2004. I had the great opportunity of being able to help people get employed through the programs of Casa Central and The Chicago Urban League. I worked for The Department of Human Rights for 35 years. I started as a Community Relations Liaison and worked my way up to Public Service Administrator, where I recruited minorities, women, veterans, and persons with disabilities to work for state government. In 1986 I was a co-founder of the Illinois Association of Hispanic State Employees which provided Latinos the opportunity to be promoted within government positions.

I am currently a board member of Central States (SER) Service Employment Redevelopment, an organization that offers vocational training programs to underprivileged youth in Cook County.

I retired approximately five years ago to work as a volunteer for the prestigious organization called LULAC - The League of United Latin American Citizens, of which I have proudly been a member of for the past 44 years. Much of my efforts allowed me to help permanent residents obtain U.S. Citizenship. This organization also inspired me to assist our youth to continue their college education by providing them with scholarships. For over 20 years LULAC of Cicero has given out hundreds of scholarships to well deserving Cicero and Berwyn youth.

I am running for the seat of Democratic Committeeman because I believe it is important for citizens to have a voice, and exercise their right to vote. Cicero has very low voter turnout, and I want to motivate the community to elect more qualified candidates. Candidates that will serve with integrity, honesty, and will protect the rights of us as humans and citizens. In addition, it is important to represent the constituency at all levels; local, state and federal and to have a reliable office to represent the residents of the township of Cicero.
